7 Black Knights Advance to State Wrestling Championships, Along With A Slew of Other SMC Wrestlers

The NCHSAA 1A Western Regional Championships were held last Tuesday at Robbinsville High School, and the hometown boys (& girl) took advantage of wrestling at home. Robbinsville High School had 7 wrestlers on the podium at the Regional Championships, earning them all a spot in the State Championships on Saturday.

7 other wrestlers from around the Smoky Mountain Conference also found themselves on the podium last Tuesday, for a total of 14 from the Conference advancing to the State Championships.

Luke Wilson, Jayden Nowell, Kage Williams, and Kyle Fink of Robbinsville all were crowned Regional Champs of their respective weight classes. It would not be surprising to see these guys on top of the podium after Saturdays State Championship either, as most are favored to win their division.

Aynsley Fink of Robbinsville placed fourth in the 113 pound weight class, but she didn’t have to wait until next Saturday to try to win a ring. This past weekend Aynsley competed in the NCHSAA Women’s Wrestling Championships, where she dominated the competition and became the 14th state champion in Black Knight wrestling history. Congratulations to Aynsley on her accomplishments thus far, and we are excited to see what the future holds!
